Since 2013, Salute Has Been Building Veteran Careers in Data Centers. Now It’s Time to Scale That Success in EMEA.

When Salute was founded in the United States in 2013, its leadership recognized something many industries were overlooking: military veterans possess the skills, discipline, and mindset needed to thrive in complex technical environments.

What began as a vision to create meaningful civilian careers for veterans has grown into a global business supporting some of the world’s leading technology organizations. Today, Salute delivers Data Center Operations, maintenance, engineering, and infrastructure services across the Americas, EMEA, and APAC, while remaining committed to the veteran community that helped shape its success.

Now, as demand for skilled talent continues to accelerate across Europe’s rapidly expanding data center market, Salute sees an opportunity to extend that proven model throughout EMEA.

Helping lead that effort is Angela Paterson, Vice President of People and Culture and Salute’s EMEA Armed Forces representative. In her latest feature for Civvy Magazine, Angela explores why veterans remain one of the most underutilized talent pools available to the data center industry.

Many service leavers bring hands-on experience operating complex mechanical, electrical, communications, and critical systems in demanding environments. Combined with leadership, adaptability, problem-solving, and the ability to perform under pressure, these capabilities align closely with the requirements of modern data center operations.

Yet too often, veterans are overlooked because employers focus on direct industry experience rather than transferable capability and long-term potential.

For Salute, this is not a new approach. It is the foundation on which the company was built. More than a decade after launching in the United States, the opportunity now is to help more veterans across EMEA discover a career path into one of the world’s fastest-growing industries.
